The first film is great, if you haven't seen it do yourself a favor and check it out. Going in I wasn't sure that I necessarily needed a sequel as the first film tells a pretty complete story but I suspect there was money to be made and so here we are. Sicario: Day of the Soldado (original title).

The first Sicario was a sleeper hit for me. I walked into the theater with minimal knowledge of the film, not having even seen a trailer. While Villeneuve did not return to direct, the original writer of the first film did. Consequently, the story and premises themselves are actually very clever and original.
